CES showcases EV charging expertise at expo

Renewables energy specialist CES has exhibited at the Road Transport Expo (RTX) for the first time – meeting with a host of transport firms making the move to electrify their fleet.

The Midlands based company delivers end-to-end commercial EV charging solutions for fleet depots, logistics operations and manufacturing sites.

RTX, which welcomed more than 14,000 visitors last year and was expected to surpass that figure for 2026, proved the ideal platform for CES to showcase its expertise in supporting businesses with fleet electrification.

Their debut appearance at the event came as the government’s Depot Charging Scheme (DCS), offering up to £170m, closed for applications.

Prior to the event, managing director Joe Collison insisted that there has never been a stronger financial case for businesses to transition to electric, with the combination of the DCS and the Zero Emissions and Van Grants.

Following their appearance at the show, discussions with a host of fleet operators and businesses underlined how much positivity there is among the industry about making the switch to electric.

Joe said: “There has been a genuine and growing demand from operators and businesses who need support with electrification, prior to the show.

“That view has only been reinforced by the number of companies we spoke to at the exhibition – we could see that there really is a lot of positivity out there around electrification.

“It was great to see so many people coming to us for guidance and advice, with a lot of them just about to commit, or having already committed to purchasing their first battery electric trucks (BEVs).

“For some we were the first company that many had spoken to about charging schemes, and from our experience, having CES involved right at the very early stages when businesses are considering making the switch is vital.

“We can act as an advisory before fleet operators commit to vehicles themselves, and that way we can start the conversation around the CAPEX and OPEX of depot charging to make informed investment decisions.

“There is a lot of talk around this at the moment with the funding landscape being in a really strong position.

“Despite the DCS closing for applications at the end of last month, we do expect further support to come and more firms to turn to electrification.”

CES has established itself as an expert in renewable energy systems and decarbonisation projects, completing several notable projects including flagship DAF dealerships in Leeds and Leicestershire and a recent BYD showroom conversion in Trench alongside Ample Power Ltd.
